Young Mother, Breech Birth – Very Painfulby Jen
My name is Jen and I’m 20. When I found out I was 2 weeks pregnant my boyfriend Jake took off, but my parents were much more supportive. They helped me throughout the terrible morning sickness I endured and put up with my whining and groaning terribly well.
At 39 weeks I began having contractions while both my parents were at work. The contractions were about five to 10 minutes apart. I knew I should call my parents but for some odd reason I didn’t. I was planning on having a homebirth and unassisted with just my mom and 13-year-old sister Mia, so I just lay around on the couch watching Doctor Phil.
Finally at 2 p.m. the contractions became extremely painful, so I sort of slumped to the phone and phoned my mother. “Mommy,” I whispered weakly into the phone “I’m in labor. Get home now! And pick up Mia from school.” My mother promised to be home as soon as possible.
I sort of began rocking around on the floor and within a few minutes my mom came bursting through the door with little Mia following her. As soon as my mom entered I began crying. “Mom they really, really hurt,” I gasped out.
My mom knelt down next to me and kissed me on the forehead. “Honey, it will be alright.” Mia squatted down and shyly said, “Jen, you OK?”
“Mia, sweetie, go get a warm wash cloth, please,” my mom told Mia. “Sure mom.” Mia returned with a warm washcloth and a flashlight. Mia had been watching a lot of those Life’s Real Birth Stories on the Lifetime network.
My mom held my hand and gently coached me through all the contractions.
Without any warning I vomited and began pushing. Mia rushed off for a cloth and cleaned the mess up. She held my hand as I pushed. I pushed and pushed until I became dizzy. I tried to tell my mom that I felt like I was going to faint but she wasn’t listening. “Mom, I’m going to pass out!” “No, you won’t!” my mom nearly yelled at me. Then she grabbed my stomach and pressed down on it, which caused me to vomit and sob at the same time.
I pushed for another three hours. My mom checked my vagina and said, “Honey, this baby’s in a breech position.”
I began crying and just pushed for all I was worth. I pushed and pushed and pushed! Finally my mom said she could barely see the bum. I crouched on my knees and pushed more.
After two more hours I just barely pushed the baby out before I passed out. My mom was yelling at me to keep on pushing. I pushed for another half hour until the placenta came out; then I was gone.
When I woke up I was in a hospital bed with my little girl Rose in my arms.
Rose is now 3 years old and the light of my life. I am expecting twins any day now and will send in my birth story as soon as I give birth.
